History of Marijuana in America

Marijuana is one of the oldest known in America. The settlers at Jamestown actually grew it. Marijuana was a very big part of America’s revenue, and many plantations did really good before WWII. From 1850 to 1937, marijuana was used for medical uses, and could even be bought over the counter. It was banned in 1937 because lower classes turned to violence over it. Throughout the ’60s, white beatniks used it a lot as their drug of choice.

THC in Your Brain

THC is a very potent chemical. Even a dose of 1 milligram can produce very serious effects and your body and your brain. It can usually reach the brain in just a matter of seconds. Marijuana users usually describe the feeling of high as relaxed. This creates a feeling of either light-headed or hazy. The user’s eyes may get bigger, or dilate, which will cause colors to stand out more and get more intense. Paranoia and panic may be felt by the user at a later time, too. Cannabinoid receptors in your brain can effect mental and physical activities like short-term memory, solving problems, coordination, and even your learning abilities.  20110323-084009.jpg

Why Do People Do Drugs?

There are many reasons why people do drugs. They think it might make them look cool and rebellious. Since drugs are sold in stores with a prescription, they must be safe, but people can overdose on those too. They think that drugs can help reduce stress, when they really don’t. People might have heard that marijuana has been legalized in some states, but it is still illegal in all 50 states. They’ve also been bored and thought drugs could help. Is it really worth the risk?
